Petek has been producing fine leather goods for over 160 years. The company’s roots go back to the year 1855 and a family of saddle craftsmen travelling with the Ottoman Imperial Army opened a workshop in a small town in Macedonia. In later years, the family business moved to Istanbul a diverse multicultural city full of colour and character.
Once settled in Istanbul the company chose the name Petek, which translates as ‘honeycomb’, symbolizing the craft of the hard working honeybee. Akin to a beehive, the Petek family runs every part of the business from under a single roof.
The traditional expertise of the imperial leather craftsmen has been passed down the family for generations and continues to be part of every product made by Petek.
